Headline: Bird species found inside Maliau

And good news on the bird front; the number of bird species
found inside Maliau Basin Conservation Area, for instance,
increased from 180 to 270, of which no less than 68 (or 25%)
are included in the "Red List" of globally threatened species
published by the IUCN (World Conservation Union) in September
2000. This means that the Maliau Basin Conservation Area has
become an utmost important stronghold for threatened
forest-birds as well as other species.
